Move Over Olympics, Now Lillehammer has Steven Van Zandt – PART 2
Lilyhammer makes it´s American debut TODAY on Netflix!
The series starring Steven Van Zandt premiered here two weeks ago on NRK,
AND
Norwegians
are seemingly enjoying it.
Almost a quarter of the population tuned in, and even more scheduled their agendas
NOT
to miss the second show.
Our sons, ages 13 and 14 LOVE IT!
The `mafia´based story is family friendly, funny, and not at all filled with mature Soprano-type scenes.
Dream Baby and I laughed a lot,
but have concerns it might be a bit SLOW.
HOWEVER,
by the end of the first show,
we had developed relationships with the charming characters,
enjoyed seeing Lillehammer on TV,
found watching the Norwegian writers poking fun at Norwegians, as well as at Americans living in Norway,
HILARIOUS,
and found ourselves looking forward to the next episode!
There were repeats of the episode during the week, and when inadvertently catching one of those,
I discovered
I had MISSED a lot!
I found it twice as funny the second time around.
There is a lot of Norwegian, and I wonder how well TEXT is going to go over in the American market.
The second episode moves at a quicker pace.
The brilliant writing is more prominent and depicts the CHARM as well as the humor of living in Lillehammer, Norway, perfectly
AND
some of the politically INCORRECT one-liners are still being repeated at our dinner table.
Americans living in Norway are LOVING LILYHAMMER!
Are you planning to watch?
AND
If you do, let me know what you think!!!!
Rumor has it the fourth episode is a HOOT and where the series really takes off!
If you missed my original post, grab a coffee and catch up on the Grit!

–I wonder if they have this series in America?
Hope you are well, Kimberly. Xx
As of Feb 6 it is streaming in America on Netflix.com. The first show is a bit flat and slow, but charming and the series definitely gets better. By the time you get to episode 4, out of 8, you are addicted! There is a lot of text to read because a great deal of the show is in Norwegian, but worth it! The humor is brilliant! And seriously depicts life in Lillehammer as an American. It goes without saying the show is HUGELY popular here for Americans that live here. And ALL teenagers LOVE it!
A few months ago I started watching my box set of Sex in The City again. The first episodes were flat and slow there too!!!! I was surprised!
Thanks for commenting Kim!
Klem,
Kimberly
I missed first and second episode (just watched third on NRK now). several people have told me “you HAVE to see the first two”. Problem is, I cant find it actually working (online) anywhere. All I find are trailers and interviews. If anyone knows WHERE I can watch it for free (online), please post the URL
Hi Geir!
Thanks for stopping by the Grit, and taking the time to comment! Here´s the poop: NRK will begin streaming reruns online 30 days after the original release date.
So, keep watching, and before too long you will be able to go back and do it all over……OOOOOOOOOH GREAT SONG!

We are one of the few people who actually don’t have Netflix, but I’ll keep my eye out for it! Family friendly mafia story made me LOL!
We don´t get Nexflix in Norway either, so we are watching it on nrk (Norway´s PBS). This week will be the 4th episode, and it is supposedly the one that really gets the show going. We are looking forward!!!!!
Kimberly,
Thank you for posting about Lillyhammer. We have ben watching it in the states and are now hooked. We are IN! and yes, we can read the text without difficulty. Maybe because we are not monolingual…lol. Yes, you need to get a part in the second season. That would be excellent!
Part 2: while the premier episodes of the show are good (and we have loved Steven Van Zandt since the East Street Babd), the real star of the show is Lillehammer. Please post more about where you live. I would be happy to link your blog to mine if you like.
All 8 episodes can be streamed from Netflix in the States…we have watched 4…more to come.
Farvel,
Bob
Pleasure to meet you Bob! Take a look at the Lillehammer category on the right hand side for more stories about, or that took place in Lillehammer. In addition, I promise to make a point of telling more about the town itself. Please let me know if you have specific questions or interests!
Looking forward to getting to know you through writing.
Klem,
Kimberly
I have just finished season 1 of Lillehammer on Netflix and loved it. When can we expect to see more?
Hi Maria!
And thanks for stopping by the Grit! To my knowledge, Season 2 has NOT started filming, but the popularity of the show in Norway as well as BBC´s recent purchase of season 1 leaves me hopeful! I will certainly let you know as soon as I hear.
Klem! (Hugs)
